There are certain things that get me into the Christmas spirit if you will. Hot Cocoa, holiday baking shows, Puerto Rican Christmas music (Aguinaldos), and a Christmas tree! For the last few years, my mom and I have not spent Christmas at home, as we had been making trips to Florida to spend Christmas with my family. Thanks to Covid that is not happening, and for that same reason, we won’t be getting together with the local family either. But the good thing is we got a Christmas tree this year since we’ll be here! It was a must for me, so on Black Friday, we hunted down a Christmas tree. Now typically, especially for many Puerto Ricans Christmas decorating and preparation can start as early as October, Christmas is a big deal for us. Here at home we usually have a tree, if we’re not traveling, way before Thanksgiving.
The theme of our Christmas tree is Peacock, as we love the majesty and colors of a Peacock. You can see real peacocks by the way at Grounds For Sculpture which I wrote about twice because I love that place and couldn’t visit just once. Read about it here and here. I bought my tree at Home Depot by the way if you’re looking for one. Lowe’s also had some but they were more expensive. And just in case you’re looking for Christmas tree decor, I added some Like To Know It items you can shop in this post. Those contain affiliate links, so if you click or buy from them I may receive a commission. Which just helps me out! I also made a Reel of how I decorated the tree on my Instagram! Go check it out!
